The answer is simple but also a little complex.
First: You need to choose a dog breed that actually matches your personality and lifestyle! There is absolutely NO bad dog just the wrong dog for YOU.
How do I choose the right dog breed for me?
You have to understand the breeds history, temperament, traits, care, there are dogs made for almost everyone and every task, some breeds are great for hunting, fishing, companionship, guard, home protection, therapy etc… after choosing the breed that actually matches with you perfectly, you need to invest the necessary time, resources and training for your dog.
If the Japanese Akitainu is actually the perfectly match for you… you have to invest in a good dog from a reputable breeder and in Socializing your Akitainu.
Socialization is the key of owning well adjusted dog, but how exactly should you socialize your Japanese Akitainu?
The dog park is NOT the best place to socialize your Japanese Akitainu it in fact might be one of the worst places you could possibly take your puppy.
So socialization does not mean that your dog needs to make “friends” with other dogs in the dog park.
In order to make easier to understand the goal of Socialization let’s just change the word “Socialization” to “Exposure”.
The main goal here is to expose or show your dog everything that could be a potential stressor in a positive manner.
For example, your dog needs to be able to go on car rides without freaking out, or be able to walk on the sidewalk of a busy street , be able to hear a lawnmower or a vacuum without getting nervous, need to go the vet, maybe even the dog groomer.
Your goal and your job, is to show your dog that all these new sounds, scents, places, people maybe even pets are okay to be around and there is no need to be stressed out, this is what “socialization” actually is.
Like I explained in the beginning, there is absolutely no bad dog only the wrong dog with the wrong person!
